Shaun Rykiss graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology before attending Vancouver Film School to pursue a career in storytelling.
Following graduation, he began editing unscripted television for Rogue Productions, where he played an instrumental role in developing two award-winning one-hour docu-series, Jim Shockey’s Uncharted and Carter’s W.A.R. (Wild Animal Response), editing 19 episodes and serving as supervising editor for more than 60 hours of content.
Following his success in unscripted content, Shaun was selected as a 2017 Editor in Residence at the prestigious Canadian Film Centre (CFC) in Toronto, which he participated in with the generous support of the Daryl Duke and William Vince Scholarship Fund. Since graduation he has worked directly with such established filmmakers as Stephanie Morgenstern (Flashpoint, X Company), Jim Allodi (The Uncles, Call Me Fitz, Republic of Doyle), Megan Follows (Reign, Murdoch Mysteries), and Amy Jo Johnson (Tammy’s Always Dying, The Space Between).
